Applying for Membership
Membership is open to any person aged 18 or above. To apply, obtain a membership form from behind the bar or click here. Complete the form, and find two people who have been members for at least one year to propose and second your application.
When all three of you have completed the form hand it in at the bar together with an application fee of £5. This is a one-off payment that will not be refunded if you do not proceed with your application.
You must then attend one of the next three new members' evenings (these are usually held on the 2nd Wednesday in the month) when you will interviewed by members of the membership subcommittee. If you are accepted (and it very unlikely that you will not be) you will then be issued with your membership card and rule book in exchange for your first annual subscription.
Membership Fees
The annual subscription is £10 for a calendar year. In other words all ordinary members have to renew their membership in January, irrespective of what time of year they joined the Club.
Temporary Membership
Visitors to Birchanger may obtain temporary membership. This last for two weeks and costs £2.50. To obtain temporary membership the visitor needs to be sponsored by a full member, who will apply to the committee on their behalf.

Life Members
Members who have reached the state retirement age and have completed the previous five years as paid up members will be granted Life Membership upon application. They do not then need to pay any further membership fees.

Guests
Except for the annual Members' Night, which is held in early December, all members may sign in up to two adults per day. There is no charge for signed-in guests except on entertainment evenings.

Birchanger Residents and the Club
Adults resident within the parish of Birchanger may not use the Club unless they are members. This applies to both men and women.
Rulebook
To see the rulebook click here. Copies of the rule book, including a large-print version, can be obtained from the secretary.
