Uttlesford District Council

Uttlesford District Council is the next tier up of local government, after Birchanger Parish Council. They are responsible for a number of matters including:

  • Refuse Collection and Recycling
  • Environmental Health
  • Planning
  • Emergency Planning

Our District Councillor is Mrs. Elizabeth Godwin (email her), who is independent of any political party.

The highest tier of local government is provided by Essex County Council. Their responsibilities include:

  • Highways
  • Education
  • Libraries
  • Public and community transport

The County Councillor for Stansted, which covers Birchanger, is Mr. Raymond Gooding (email him) who is a Conservative. Ray is a Birchanger resident and lives at 260 Birchanger Lane.
